hey,dear doctors,since I am in China,and in China we can buy HIV test strips from internet legally,and by self using.and here is my concern:so I bought one strip of Abbott Determine HIV from internet,and I got the package today,it comes with one Determine HIV strip,and a blood collection needle，one tampon.But the blood collection needle is seperated packed in a small plastic bag,but the custormer service explained that it sure is disposable.and I didnt think that much,and then I just followed the instructions getting ready to take the test by myself.And now I'm really worried about what if the blood collection needle wasn't disposable like they said?But I have used the 75% Alcohol to disinfect needle top before I started,and my question is what is the probability that I would probably get infected by the needle if it already had HIV virus on it.One more mention,it took about 3 days to deliver the package to my house,is that possible even if the needle had HIV virus and 3 days were enough to let it become eliminated?Thank you sooooo much for helping me!

Hello,
No need to be so paranoid. I would honestly doubt that you would receive a needle that was not sterile, single use and disposable. In any case, even in the unlikely event of the needle having had infected blood on it, it would be impossible for you to become infected with HIV as the virus becomes inactive within minutes of being outside of the body.
No need to worry at all whatosever.

所以无论如何你都没必要担心！！！”

Welcome to the Forum. I suspect that you are over reacting. Abbott is a highly reliable company an while I o not know much about how such things are regulated in China, here in the U.S. it would be unheard of for a company to distribute contaminated materials. Further, since the needle was sent to you, there is no way that they could re-use it after sending to another person.
The needles in such tests are typically solid needles as well. This too is important since with soli needles, blood cannot get trapped in the needle in the way that occurs for hollow needles. Since blood cannot be caught in a hollow space, were there HIV (and I am confident there was not), HIV would die in transport.
As I said, think you are over reacting a bit. I would urge you not to worry.

Antibody tests performed at 8 weeks are definitive.
我不清楚combined HIV p-24 antigen./ HIV antibody tests (also called “DUO” tests) 该怎么翻译，我觉得大致就是抗体抗原组合双测的一种方法吧（我认为四代雅培就是这个吧，抗原抗体一起查）。他说用这种方法可以在四周后能够确诊，而单做抗体检测需要八周才能确诊。

他现在又说不用等90天做测试，现在的测试技术8周就够了，我看他大部分说的是发达国家的检测方法吧！对了开始我说的那个四周的那个，是因为那个女生是在澳大利亚，所以DR.EDWARD就说澳洲应该能做那个抗体抗原组合双测的方法吧。
所以我自己得出的结论是8周是最保险的，我以前一直支持六周论，但是看来不管什么方法8周如果去检测是阴的话，无论何种方法都可以彻底脱恐了，没办法，时差，我待到那么晚就是等他们的回答！
好了 今天就写到这 明天再看下EDWARD回答我没有！
