The window after 90 days is very small. As best as we can figure, 95-99% of people seroconvert by 3 months. There are rare cases that occur after, which is why there are recommendations to test at 6 months. MH

We are glad to help you. The tests commonly used to detect HIV infection are actually looking for antibodies produced by an individual’s immune system when they are exposed to HIV. Most people will develop detectable antibodies within two to eight weeks (the average is 25 days). Ninety seven percent will develop antibodies in the first three months following the time of their infection. In very rare cases, it can take up to six months to develop antibodies to HIV.
