1) I had a cmia (chemiluminiscent Microparticle Immunoassay ) test for the detection of HIV antibodies to HIV 1 and 2 and p24 antigen. Is this a fourth generation test and what is the window period for this specific test ?
2)The p24 antigen remains in the blood stream untill antibodies are produced right ? So even if i am in the window period and antibodies have not been produced the cmia test would detect the p24 antigen and test reactive right ?
3)I tested negative at 32 weeks post my last exposure 4 times.Twice using the immunochromatography is this conclusive and has it ever happened a normal individual not on chemo or any drug test positive after testing negative at 7.5-8 months ?
4)I also had a cd4 and cd8 count done.My cd4 count was 522 and cd8 count was 416 hence my cd4/cd8 ratio 1.25 is this normal for a HIV Negative person ?(took the test in the afternoon, was a bit stressed.)
医生:Hello,
Thank you very much for your post and welcome to our forum. I am going to try to answer your questions one by one here below:
1) I had a cmia (chemiluminiscent Microparticle Immunoassay ) test for the detection of HIV antibodies to HIV 1 and 2 and p24 antigen. Is this a fourth generation test and what is the window period for this specific test ?
YES, IT IS A 4TH GENERATION TEST, ALSO CALLED DUO OR COMBO HIV TEST.
2)The p24 antigen remains in the blood stream untill antibodies are produced right ? So even if i am in the window period and antibodies have not been produced the cmia test would detect the p24 antigen and test reactive right ?
p24 ANTIGEN IS DETECTABLE ALREADY AFTER TWO WEEKS FOLLOWING INFECTION, REACHING VERY HIGH LEVELS AT 4-6 WEEKS AND THEN GRADUALLY DROPPING AS ANTIBODY LEVELS RISE. NORMALLY IF SOMEONE HAD BEEN INFECTED, YOU WOULD EITHER DETECT THE p24 ANTIGEN, THE ANTIBODIES OR BOTH. SO THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION IS YES.
3)I tested negative at 32 weeks post my last exposure 4 times.Twice using the immunochromatography is this conclusive and has it ever happened a normal individual not on chemo or any drug test positive after testing negative at 7.5-8 months ?
IT IS CONCLUSIVE AND IT HAS NEVER HAPPENED UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES.
4)I also had a cd4 and cd8 count done.My cd4 count was 522 and cd8 count was 416 hence my cd4/cd8 ratio 1.25 is this normal for a HIV Negative person ?(took the test in the afternoon, was a bit stressed.)
IT IS NORMAL. YOU ARE HIV NEGATIVE.
BEST WISHES,
